SO WHAT I WANNA TALK ABOUT TODAY. i want to talk about a lot but lets start with the minor things and keep you up to date

i have it and have been using it for.. like a month now.. AND I WAS RIGHT ITS FUCKING AWFUL but i want to learn how to use it anyway because in terms of like functioning as a daw and making music it is not bad at all... i just really hate how freaking confusing it is SWITCHING FROM LMMS TO FL STUDIO FELT LIKE LEARNING AN ALIEN LANGUAGE AFTER SPEAKING PURELY THROUGH BODY LANGUAGE FOR DECADES
secondly i have no projects planned at the moment.. 2025 has been a relatively dry year for the charred oatmeal fans (love u 12 monthly listeners) but i promise i will do something soon!!! ive abandoned the nightcrawler project (yeah that was the name im just gonna let that go now lol) but i will be repurpousing what ive done for a future project :D when will this be done? dont ask me dude i just make the music
OKAY NOW THE REAL HOT TOPIC. I WANT TO MAKE GAMES I WANT TO BE A GAME DEV I HAVE HAD SO MANY IDEAS OVER THE COURSE OF THE PAST,.. FOUR YEARS!!!!
I HAVE BEEN CLINGING ON TO THIS ONE IDEA SINCE THE DAWN OF TIME AND I NEED TO SPILL. NOW.
so its for this metroidvania style/action exploration platformer with cool combat mechanics!!! i call it mhz (as in megahertz but spelled megaHURTZ) because they attack using SOUND!!!!! 12 year old me popped off when i came up with this icl
so yk how in other fictional media things like light or air or other elements are able to be manipulated and materialized? its kinda like that, i thought of the concept of using sound or noise to manifest and materialize stuff, and also being able to inflict and heal using it
i can go in to so much more detail ive been thinking of this for so long but thats the general idea and like whatever ITS EXTENSIVE ITS BORING BOO TOMATO I CAN EXPLAIN LATER
so now im going to poorly and quickly explain the plot of the game (or the idea i have for it)!!!! you play as not one but TWO government organization workers during a very chaotic time in their world, there are rifts opening up releasing odd manifestations of noise (aka sonic anomalies YES I JUST CAME UP WITH THAT SHUT UP KEEP READING) and theyre dispatched and sent to patch them up
these main character guys are like rlly unserious about their job theyre only working under the government because they litrally didnt have a choice they NEED to pay their rent, they used to be a 3 man band but the third member died in a freak accident or something like that idk and band gigs werent paying enough for them to survive anyway so when they saw the defence force was training people to aid with these anomalies (this was 10 years before the starting events of the game) they were like "okay fuck it im gonna do this i mean we can use noise right"
oh btw i should update you on terminology
the elements they manipulate will be referred to as sound or noise
manipulating their element will be referred to as using or channeling noise/sound
people with the ability to control an element are called catalysts
to become a catalyst you need to be like awakened? a vision has to come to you for you to discover it and then you need to spend time aligning yourself with it and learning how to use it
ANYWAY BACK TO THE LORE!!! 10 years pass and the general public still doesnt know where these anomalies and rifts are coming from and even the main gang is like goddamn this organization is sketchy as fuckkk so they continue working under them but whilst holding their doubts and GASPP THE GOVERNMENT IS LYING TO THEM AND HIDING ANCIENT SECRETS FROM THEM... the main gang learns little bits about this like two areas in but in the next area they find HARD EVIDENCE when they bust into an abandoned organization owned research lab and the connect EVERYTHING theyve learnt and known together so theyre like what the fuck!! down with the authorities!! and then they go off on their own to bring justice to the chaos ridden world
now for less lore stuff i made two main characters because itd be cool and i want you to be abe to swap between them in combat because yk how cool would that be
probably a pain in the ass to program but anything is possible if you're determined enough!! and yes they have their own unique abilities OF COURSE they do i want to be extra
this is my dream game and i will probably not be working on it for a really long time but i definitely want to in the future and ive been thinking about it a lot lately so i wanted to yap about it sorry if it went on for so long LMAO i have held this in me for YEARS and havent told A SINGLE SOUL about my idea
